The Algoma Art Society is celebrating its 75th anniversary with an exhibition at the Art Gallery of Algoma in Sault Ste. Marie. For over 70 years, the Algoma Art Society is the oldest visual arts group in Algoma. Its earliest beginnings saw painting excursions with F. H. Varley, A. J. Casson and A. Y. Jackson. The Society continues to foster the arts in Sault Ste. Marie to develop local talent, promote exhibitions, competitions, classes, sketching trips, and lectures and invite prominent artists and create a greater interest in art.
The exhibition will be held from January 6, 2023, to February 4, 2023, at the Art Gallery of Algoma. A variety of members will exhibit including long-time members like Nora Anne Harrison, Judy Henderson, Lotte Steube, Hilkka Pellikka, Nancy Norman, Ken Hagerman and many others.
